How did Silton Coffee Co. start?

Whilst travelling in South America we became addicted to coffee and everything about it! From the beautiful farms to the different tastes and smells of freshly roasted beans . At Silton Coffee Co. our aim is to get more people to enjoy the amazing world and taste of freshly roasted seasonal coffees!

On returning from Columbia we set about building our roastery. Now you can find Norma, the roaster, in a converted stables with fabulous views over the North Yorkshire Moors. We love our location and hope that you love our beans!

How do we choose our coffee?

We select a range of different coffees, from around the world, depending on which beans are in season and taste the best. All our coffees are ethically sourced from single farms, cooperatives or producers.

When roasting we try to get optimum flavours out of the coffee. In truth, all the hard work has been done during the growing, harvesting and processing of the green coffee beans. Our main job whilst roasting is not to undo all the good work that has already been done. We have spent a lot of time developing, learning and improving the roast of each coffee we buy.

Sustainability

Sustainability is very important to us and is a part of what we stand for as a company.  We try to reduce our carbon footprint wherever we can.

Our roastery uses solar energy wherever possible. We use a biomass boiler for heating, using the chaff (waste material from roasting) as fuel!

Our bags are widely recyclable (LDPE - Plastic #4) and can be put out with your plastic waste. We advice you check on your local council website for plastic recycling details.

MTPak provide our bags. We have chosen this company because they offer fully recyclable bags including the one way gas valves.

We use cardboard boxes and craft tape when posting our coffee, this is fully recyclable
