PREP
1. Its important to warm up your empty French Press by rinsing it with very hot water. This helps maintain the temperature while brewing for best extraction.
2. Weigh out your coffee (see above table) and grind if required to a medium grind setting (similar to granulated sugar).
3. Put the ground coffee in the french press, place on the scales and then zero the scales.
BREW
1. Make sure your water is hot (96-99°C), this will be just off the boil.
2. Start a timer for 6 minutes and pour your required amount of hot water over the coffee, making sure all the coffee is saturated.
3. After 4 minutes, stir the crust of coffee grinds floating on the top. This will cause these grounds to drop towards the bottom of the French Press.
4. Place the lid on loosely but do not press the plunger down yet.
PLUNGE
1. When the timer shows 6 minutes, take the French Press off the scales if it’s not already. Then press the plunger about 60% of the way down. We don't want to disturb the silty coffee at the bottom of the pot.
2. Serve it up! Immediately pour the coffee into a cup or serving vessel and enjoy.
